4: Redneck Capital of the World a.k.a Sandhills Curiosity Shop a.k.a. Mediocre Music Makers
Directions: Return to the
stoplight, go right/south, and the Curiosity Shop is on the right corner. It
is a red brick building that says, "Meat Market."

Erick native Harley
Russell returned from California
in the mid 80's to create a place unlike any other on planet Earth. Dedicated
to the memory of Roger Miller, to the mystique of Route 66, and to the unique
personas and musical sounds of rural Oklahoma,
Harley and Annabelle Russell have created what is at once a business, an art
gallery, a curio shop, an entertainment experience without parallel, and a
place where friendship and good vibrations are valued over commerce. Harley
and Annabelle are both accomplished musicians, and play for guests on an
assortment of vintage guitars that include a Gibson L5, a square-neck Dobro, and a variety of Martins. They take the expression
"kick off your shoes" literally, and perform barefoot as long as
weather permits. Recognized as a major destination on the Route 66 historic
corridor, take a moment to stop in and say hello-you'll never forget it.
Just a few steps south is
a flag mural which reflects in the windows up and down the street to renew
our patriotic spirit.
Check the building on the
corner of Sheb Wooley and
Route 66--this is the home of the Roger
Miller Museum. Dedicated to the memory of Erick’s
favorite son, the late, great Roger Miller, this museum is open 10 am to 5 pm
Wed – Sat and 1 to 5 pm Sun.
Come view the motorcycle Roger was riding when he met Elvis as well as
his Erick Future Farmers of America jacket and other memorabilia.
Return to I-40 East and
exit Sayre.
